I know we often post on this blog our needs for help, and every time Austin has stepped up and helped us out in a major way. If it wasn’t for that help, we couldn’t have saved the nearly 1,400 dogs’ and cats’ lives we have saved up to this point. However, we are in a crisis Austin. With Spring came tons of puppies and kittens destined for death at the shelter, we were able to save almost every one of them until now. Jude graduates!

A loud WHOO HOO!!! could be heard echoing through the hill country recently as Jude successfully completed his training course at the Lee Mannix Center for Canine Behavior.
For those of you who don’t know, the Lee Mannix Center for Canine Behavior is situated in the hill country in southwest Austin. All training is outside in a tree-filled setting. And, in between training exercises the dogs must take a two minute walk with the opportunity to splash around in baby pools filled with water. And boy does Jude love to splash in the baby pools. Thanks to everyone who came out to our first annual Pet Prom at Torchy’s Trailer Park on Sunday.
Just seeing all of the pets dressed up, like the ones in this photo, many of whom are APA! alumni, was reason enough to declare the event a success. (Raising $4,000 didn’t hurt either!)

An recent adopter has written on her blog about her new APA! rescue dog, Tito. What she’s written is certainly how we imagine what our pets have gone through and how they feel on death row. And the happy ending for Tito is what we envision for all of the pets soon and is what keeps us going. We thank her for writing it and sharing his story.
