Happy hour with Social Thinker

by admin • Posted in: Fundraising

APA! is thrilled to be this month’s charity for the new nonprofit group, Social Thinker.  Social Thinker’s mission is to engage the service industry to create new donations and volunteer opportunities for local and national charitable organizations.

Please join us for a happy hour at the Tiniest Bar in Texas, next Friday, June 26th from 5-8pm.  Thank you to the Tiniest Bar in Texas for donating a portion of sales on Friday to APA!.  They have sponsored APA! in the past for a volunteer party and are a real friend to Austin’s homeless pets.

I would like to know why APA is leaving the Petsmart at Parmer/35. I heard something about a Dessaue Rd Vet making complaints. This will result in a lot of dogs not getting good homes.

I adopted one of my pups there! Bessie is a sweetheart ;-) She was Oakley but her markings were just like a cow so we named her Bessie.

A vet complained to petsmart about our dogs being outside in the heat, so petsmart requested that we shut down in the afternoons (the vets with banfield inside of petsmart took the temperature of all of our dogs and they were normal). Dogs are killed every day at TLAC for being homeless (and they’re outside there too), so shutting down a location for most of the day is not an easy option for us. We’ve decide to use our van and materials and move to the Brodie Petsmart location instead.

We too are concerned about the heat for our dogs, which is why we have tents and baby pools. Many of our counselors are vet techs and all are trained to watch for signs of the dogs being overheated. We are in the process of getting misters set up as well, which we were already planning to do, but the early extreme heat in June caught us.
