On Sunday from noon – 5, Austinite David Becker will be giving out advice at Mambo Berry for 5 cents (minimum), to raise money for APA!. Mambo Berry has also pledged 10% of sales during that time to APA!.
Sunday’s stunt is all part of David’s bigger project, Forty Days, which is documented on his blog. Here is a brief description of his project from his blog:
Forty days until I start work at a big, international law firm. Forty days to do all the fun, silly, introspective, and stupidly adventurous things I won’t have a chance to do once I start.
Forty days to live. Forty days to give. Forty days.
Here’s some more info, from David:
Giving advice for a nickel is just something that is whimsical, fun, and interactive that fit well with the overall theme of The Forty Days. The idea then evolved into including a local business owner and donating any proceeds to charity. That way, multiple facets of the community could become involved, and the end result would be less about me entertaining myself, and more about giving to charity and creating community partnerships.
I adopted a dog about 8 1/2 years ago, and it has been one of the most amazing and gratifying experiences of my life. I firmly believe in the mission of Austin Pets Alive!–saving the lives of animals and turning Austin into a no-kill city. In addition, two very good friends of mine are heavily involved with Austin Pets Alive!, and I want to support them in their charitable endeavors.
If you’re on S. Congress Sunday, we hope you will stop by, meet David, and get some advice. We are very thankful for his and Mambo Berry’s assistance to help Austin’s homeless pets!
