An Update on Animals Affected by the Central Texas Wildfires

The outpouring support we have received from the community these last several days has been incredible. We could not be more thankful for our neighbors for helping us help these displaced homeless animals during this natural disaster. We were able to adopt out 94 animals yesterday into loving homes and hope that we will continue to find families for our dogs and cats today and throughout the rest of the week.

We will be taking in animals from the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter today, as they are overcrowded due to the Leander fire. We are in need of volunteers at our 2807 Manchaca location, as well as donations of canned food (if there is a choice, we prefer Castor & Pollux brand food) and cleaning supplies like bleach and paper towels. We are also in dire need of medical supplies, including vaccines (DHLPP and rabies), flea and tick prevention, heartworm tests and doxycycline. Monetary donations are also welcome to help cover the medical costs for these animals.

Additionally, we have a team of people set up to help people displaced by the fires who need assistance with their pets. If you need a place to board your pet or need food/supplies, email email hidden; JavaScript is required.

    I would like to adopt or foster a small dog, I have a small dog named Tango he prefers female dogs. I live with my mom in an apartment. Please let me know if I can help.

    Is there ever a need for Ice at your place? Please let me know…I work just down the road, and have an ice machine that you are always welcome to use. Someone mentioned that you needed some…please let me know via email or phone 512-448-0787.

    I can foster a dog if it is cat friendly. Do you still need temporary homes? I’m in Northwest Austin. I would really like to help. Thank you so much for what you are doing.

    I see you guys are asking for certain brand of food, but are you guys really going to be picky about what anyone brings? I’m only asking because I don’t want to buy something that doesn’t get used. THanks so much :)

    I am off my work for few weeks and would be at home all day… I hear your shelter is over its capacity due to wildfires… I would love to help out a dog by providing foster home at least for 2 weeks…

    If you need safe pasture for your horses due to wildfires in Texas, call Mr. Matt Daniel at 832-769-1879 . He has pasture to shelter 60 horses and has trucks and trailers ready to go. He Can move 10 horses at a time.
    For those in Fire danger areas: Tips from the large animal rescue at UC Davis: if you have to turn your animals loose or over to vans spray paint your phone number on them. Take off any nylon halters or sheets, they melt into the skin.

    I have two 30 inch exercise pens as well as a couple of pom sized crates that I can donate. Also some extra crockery dishes that would work as food bowls or water bowls.

    Also have some gently used dog towels and beds I can donate.

    I work from 2 till 9pm – what hours are you open?

    I am a second year veterinary medical student at Texas A&M. I have a lot of experience administering vaccines, performing physical exams, neutering male cats, and a lot more. If I could help out with any of the incoming Bastrop Shelter animals on the weekends to come, I would be more than glad and willing. Please let me know what I need to do to help out.

    If you need someone to foster in Houston, we could keep a large dog at our home in Bellaire. We have one Golden Retriever. She is a rescue and has a few issues (small dogs seem to be a problem) but she gets along with a large male dog down the street. We can afford to feed and bathe and care for a dog without serious injuries – sorry we cannot offer to help with medical expenses. Is this the right place to make this offer?
