Austin Pets Alive! moved all our programs to the Town Lake Animal Center (TLAC) at 1156 W. Cesar Chavez in May 2012! We are currently leasing the facility from the city of Austin and enjoying a space with cat and dog adoption centers, a medical clinic, play yards, and offices for behavior & administrative staff.
Austin Pets Alive! has saved over 11,500 lives from certain death since 2008. The Town Lake Animal Center has both increased our stability and decreased costs associated with operating a decentralized organization, helping us in saving even more lives now and into the future.
TLAC hosts adoptions, medical care, and behavioral care for animals most in danger from surrounding shelters:
- Adoption Center: TLAC is the largest of our adoption sites, of which we have 5 daily dog sites and 9 daily cat sites.
- Behavior Center: We are able to rescue pets that we couldn’t take in the past because they wouldn’t do well at our adoption sites in public places (like high energy dogs and shy cats).
- Medical Center: We care for all the animals at APA, 85% of which come into the program with a medical issue.
As a No Kill City, Austin needs to work to save ALL the animals that are less than perfect. The TLAC facility is an important piece of this puzzle. Please consider a donation towards our renovation of the TLAC facility! Check out our wishlist for supplies here.
