Elvira looks like she could be a model. She has presence, poise, huge eyes, and the thickest, most luxurious black fur you may ever see. However, there is more to Elvira than what meets the eye. If her pretty face doesn't melt your heart, her sweet lap-cat tendencies certainly will.
This kitty took one look around her foster home her first night and clearly said, "This hotel looks fine to me! When do we eat?" As a healthy, curious girl in the prime of her life, Elvira loves to explore, but she is usually more interested in watching "mom" than she is in playing. Elvira always wants to know what you're doing and "chat" with you about it. She also loves to steal a few moments of cuddle time every day before she goes off to do her own thing. If she can't fit in your lap (which happens a lot), your feet or chest will work just as well. You'll love having this furry space heater around for the holidays!
Because she's had a lot of stress in her life, Elvira can be defensive in a new environment, particularly if she smells other cats. She still loves people, including new people, but she sometimes nips (not hard!) when startled or overstimulated. Now that she feels safe in her foster home, this behavior is almost gone, but Elvira would probably do best in a quiet home without small children or other pets. In return, she always uses the litterbox and has shown no signs of inappropriate scratching.
Take a chance on getting to know Elvira, and you won't be sorry: the return on your investment more than repays a little extra time. The longer you know her, the more you can appreciate what a loving cat Elvira really is!
All APA! foster kittens/cats are litter box trained, tested for FeLV/FIV, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for worms/fleas, microchipped and come with a 30-day health insurance plan.
