Help needed for a burned dog

Update: Fox 7 news ran a story tonight on our new dog, Honey.

TLAC called us yesterday about a dog in their care who they think was burned with an accelerant or chemical. She was found wandering around a trailer park, but it’s unknown if she lived there. TLAC is doing a cruelty investigation and have been tending to her wounds, but she needs out of the shelter and into a quiet foster home where she can recover. They tell us that she has been a calm and gentle patient. She is a one year old brown lab mix. You can see her full photos here and here (warning: these photos are graphic). (Full press release is here. Update: there was some miscommunication before we got her and we thought that she was a he.)

We are pulling her out of TLAC and putting her into a foster home today. Her foster will be giving her medication, including pain meds, and doing 2x daily hydrotherapy treatments on her – using pressurized water to clean the wounds and speed healing.

There’s a good chance that she will need surgery and we’re estimating that her care is going to cost over $1,000, but our vet hasn’t evaluated her yet, so we don’t the full extent of her injuries. Austin, we can really use your help to care for this girl. Please consider making a donation to help us give her the care she needs.

I just made a small donation to help out this poor animal. I used the website to make the donation and hope that the money will be applied to this little dog, but did not see an option to select to have the money applied to this dog specifically. Thank you.

I just left a donation as well and there was no option to make sure it was to the burned dog I saw on the news, is the money going for her care? that is who it is meant to go too. I understand there are other dogs in need, but this is who I am donating too. Please make sure the $100 is going towards this dogs care. Thanks!

Thank you very much for your donations! Yes, your donations are going to go directly to Honey’s care. Just today, her medical costs were $500 and she likely has a long road ahead of her with the chance of more surgeries, especially on that foot. We will definitely let the public know if/when we get enough funds to cover all of her care and after that point, we would apply any new donations to the medical expenses of other pets who are in similar circumstances.

For updates on Honey, please keep checking back here on this blog.

Thanks again, we couldn’t save Honey and dogs like her without your support.
