Little Lebowski Urban Achiever

standingtallOn Friday, the day after surgery, Lebowski went to the vet and had his pain medication increased. His foster was told that they’d probably have a good idea if he’d be able to stand and walk again within a week based on whether he could feel pain in his legs.

A few hours after they got home, she went to check on him in his crate and found him standing on all four legs.

This video is a little dark, but you can see him standing.

Lebowski went to see Dr. Lewis, the surgeon, yesterday. He is “very happy” with Lebowski’s progress in such a short amount of time.

Lebowski is able to stand, although he is still wobbly and tends to stand with his back feet curled under still. It is not the best thing in the world for Lebowski to be standing on his knuckles, but it isn’t the end of the world. The hope is that as his muscles get stronger, he will start standing normally, and then, eventually, will be able to walk.

They anticipated him going in for another visit this week, but Dr. Lewis was so happy with his progress, they decided he doesn’t need to be seen until next Tuesday. He has to be crate confined until next Tuesday at the earliest. His foster can only take him out to go to the bathroom.

Last night, he was almost able to scratch his ear! Sounds like a small step, but we think Lebowski would consider it huge. He is currently having to rub his head on his blanket to scratch his ears.

We still need donations of about $750 to cover the cost of his treatment. Thank you so much to everyone who has already helped us raise $250!
