Can you believe this gorgeous dog was surrendered at the shelter because “she wags her tail too much”?  Meet Wags, the loving and friendly 7 year old labrador mix who recently joined the Austin Pets Alive program.  After a short time in our care, we noticed there might have been another, more honest reason as to why she was surrendered – Wags had a slight limp and upon closer inspection we have learned she actually has an ACL tear.

Wags is now going to be scheduled for a surgery to repair her ACL so she can live pain free again and be the active lab we know she is.  Will you help?

Wags is so sweet…no tell how long this happy soul had to endure tendon tear pain….people can learn how to be unconditional in love, just like Wags…

Wags would have been killed if Austin Pets Alive! did not exist. Thank goodness Texas has Austin Pets Alive! as a role model of what to do with abused pets.

My dog, Clancey, was 6 mo. old when I found him by the side of a country road in Santa Rosa, CA. Someone had seen him dumped out of a van just before I stopped to get him out of traffic. Much like the situation w/Wags, within 6 mo of finding him, I had a possible clue why he got dumped — $1100 vet bill for knee surgery. I had him for an all-too-short nine years.

Wags deserved better from her people. Thank goodness for Austin Pets Alive.

It makes me wish I still lived in Austin so I could take part in the many activities they have going on.
