Announcing a fourth daily dog adoption site

by austinpetsalive • Posted in: Adoptions, Donations

Austin Pets Alive! will open its fourth site this weekend to offer seven-day-a-week adoptions.

The fourth site will open beginning tomorrow, March 7th, at the PetSmart location in the Mueller development at 1201 Barbara Jordan Blvd, thanks to a generous donor who wishes to remain private.

His donation to APA! of $20,000 will pay for a van and necessary supplies at the new site and will help fund a fifth site to be launched in a couple of weeks.

“This donation will save between 260 and 520 dogs per year from the euthanasia list at Town Lake Animal Center,” said APA!’s president and local veterinarian Dr. Ellen Jefferson. The group estimates that the donation will equal approximately $50 for every dog saved.

“Our donor wanted to make an investment that would have a meaningful return. In today’s stock market, this is a much more rewarding return on an investment than stocks that don’t move,” Jefferson added.

Just wanted to say “thank you” to the donor. All of our dogs have been rescued in some fashion, either from a pet store about to ‘get rid’ of them, friends unable to care for them, or from the pound, and they have made our lives so full. Thank you kind donor for helping other dogs get a bit more time to find their new homes!

What a fantastic gift! I am a true believer in adopting rescue animals, and so admire everyone at APA for their hard work and dedication!

If it wasn’t for APA, our family would not have Max today. We adopted him in August of 2008!

Wow! This act of generosity makes me hopeful for humanity. Thank you, anonymous donor! You’re an encouragement to people and a blessing to animals!
