Austin Pets Alive! Hosts $10 “Spring Cleaning” Adoptions
Non-profit organization aims to increase adoptions in order to help Central Texas shelters with kitten and puppy season.

WHAT: To make room for the increased amount of pets coming into Town Lake Animal Center and shelters throughout Central Texas due to the Spring season, Austin Pets Alive! will be hosting $10 adoptions for cats over 6 months of age and dogs over 30 pounds. The organization hopes that with increased adoptions this weekend, they’ll have more room to pull animals at risk of euthanasia at surrounding-area shelters as Spring will crowd shelters with litters of puppies and kittens. Visuals of potential adopters looking at cats and dogs and interviews with APA! staff are available.

WHERE: The APA! Adoption and Resource Center at 2807 Manchaca Road and APA! adoption sites located throughout the city. All locations can be found at http://www.austinpetsalive.org/.

WHEN: Saturday, March 12 through Sunday, March 13. All adoption locations will be open from 12p.m to 6 p.m.

Yes, Sidney, the cats are fixed, microchipped, and have had all age-appropriate shots.

I am wanting to see Red at the Lakeline Petsmart. If I were to see her, like her, and wanting to adopt. What would be the best way to adopt her? Should I go straight to your office first?

    Hi Chris,
You can adopt Red at whichever adoption site she’s at for the day. The special price is good at all adoption sites for dogs over 30lbs.

Was it just for these 2 days (12th & 13th) or will there be other days to adopt for the spring clean

  14. austinpetsalivesays: March 14, 2011 at 6:06 pm

    Hi Robert,
Our Spring Cleaning event was just for the 12th and 13th. TLAC just started their own promotion today, though!

  15. April E. Petersonsays: March 14, 2011 at 7:43 pm

I put an application in for Mr. Brown on the 12th, will the Spring Cleaning still apply. I went Sunday but they had him packed up at 5:45 and went to location today after work but couldn’t get there in time. It was 6:07 when I arrived.

  16. austinpetsalivesays: March 14, 2011 at 7:47 pm

    Hi April,
I’m not sure that Mr. Brown qualified for the $10 adoptions, as it was for dogs over 30 lbs. I’ll get you in touch with our adoptions team so you can discuss with them (email hidden; JavaScript is required). I’m sorry that he wasn’t available for you to adopt when you went to meet him yesterday.

  17. April E. Petersonsays: March 14, 2011 at 8:09 pm

Awesome! He was weighed at Petsmart on Sat. and weighed 34.6 pounds. I will wait to hear

  18. austinpetsalivesays: March 15, 2011 at 2:47 pm

    Hi April,
Yes, the $10 fee will apply for you and Mr. Brown. Our adoptions manager has authorized it and the counselors should know about it. Thank you so much for adopting a rescue dog!

Just heard the news. Congrats on your new family member! Sorry about the troubles you had with trying to adopt him!
