Sassy is a lover in every sense of the word. She loves her people and absolutely lives for her children! When she lays eyes on her 6 year old foster boy her entire body wags, not just her tail. And her most favorite time of day is when she gets to go to his school to pick him up and get love and attention from all of the children there. Her foster reports that people are just magically drawn to Sassy when she is out and about and everyone must come say hi. This girl has that magical something special for sure.
Sassy is also very energetic and does puppy laps around the back yard like she was on the Indianapolis Speedway! She loves to go for daily exercise and is happy to play with another dog or accompany you on a walk, jog, run or even bike ride. Yes, you read that correctly, bike ride. Unlike most dogs who would be terrified to be next to a bike, Sassy will happily jog along beside you while you peddle away.
Sassy is great with other larger energetic dogs but doesn’t do as well with small dogs and cats. We can’t stress enough how much she loves children. While she can be high energy when playing and getting exercise, she literally melts when her foster boy pet her. She will just become a puddle of love in his lap. She also loves getting belly rubs and would be very happy laying on her back in your lap while you rub her belly for the next decade or so.
Sassy is young and still has a lot of puppy in her. Like any pup, she needs training and because she is so smart and eager to please she should be easy to train.
So why hasn’t this great dog met that special someone? When Sassy goes out to the APA! sites to meet potential adopters it is a little much for her. She is in a cage and there are lots of people walking by and other dogs all around in other cages so she can see them but can’t play with them. There is just a lot going on at the sites and it can be over stimulating for some dogs, as it is for Sassy. She gets barky and pulls on the leash and just wants to run and play. She doesn’t act that way at all in her foster home, so that doesn’t give people a good idea of what she is really like. She needs a family that will spend a little bit of time walking her around to let her calm down and show her true self. Once you get to know the real Sassy, you’ll see the magic she has as well. It is just a magical something that makes you fall in love with her.
