Update: Honey Biscuit is home!

by Hilary Bentley • Posted in: Adoptions, Special Needs Pets, Where are they now

Honey Biscuit‘s eye removal and jaw surgery were a success, thank you so much to everyone that donated and helped care for Biscuit! Below is her wonderful story from her adopter:

On March 24th, Austin Pets Alive! was contacted by TLAC about an adorable Siamese mix who’d been hit by a car.  Honey Biscuit needed several expensive medical procedures so APA sent out a plea for financial help.  I decided I’d contribute in honor of my beloved Tonkinese, Bisco, who passed away on March 8th.  My intention was only to help with a donation but as soon as I clicked on Honey Biscuit’s picture, I was in love.  Even with the swollen eye, the smooshed nose, and the broken jaw, this kitty had my heart.  I immediately offered to adopt her and was ecstatic when APA accepted.  She was given the medical care she needed thanks to APA and to all of you, her generous donors.  Honey Biscuit was also fortunate enough to receive all the emotional care she craved (and so much more) from her foster mom, Gerri.  Today, Honey Biscuit came home with us and has made herself quite comfortable.  She’s already a cherished member of our family.

A happy side note to this story is that through Honey Biscuit, we met Boomer (now going by Bagheera).  While visiting the APA cattery to complete Honey Biscuit’s paperwork, my son Matt spent about half an hour playing with the very talkative, very sweet, very large black kitty by the reception desk.  Matt asked several thoughtful questions about Bagheera and really seemed interested in the cat.  After we left, on the ride home, Matt asked if we had enough room at our house for 2 new cats.  He’d developed such an attachment that we couldn’t tell him no.  Bagheera, just like Honey Biscuit, has made himself quite at home and it feels like he’s been with us forever.  I’ve told several people that I feel sorry for every person who left APA without Bagheera because there’s no way the cat they took home could be anywhere as fabulous as our Baggie.

Austin Pets Alive! has given us two of the best cats we could ever hope for.  Both are sweet, gentle, loving kitties who want nothing more than pets, hugs and kisses.  If it weren’t for the dedication of everyone affiliated with APA, these fantastic felines might not have had the opportunity to bring such joy into our lives.

That’s just wonderful. Gerri is an amazing foster and often takes medical cases and does an outstanding job because she’s knowledgeable & diligent. Honey Biscuit couldn’t have landed in a better foster home. Boomer is a gorgeous black cat with “sparkles” – He was a favorite at the APA adoption center. You have found yourselves 2 perfect kitties!! And they have such great stories, too!!

I am so thrilled to see Boomer get a home! I loved playing with him when I’d come in to get medical check ups for my fosters. Awesome!
