A few weeks ago Austin Pets Alive! teamed up with volunteers from Town Lake Animal Center and Emancipet to showcase some of TLAC’s adoptable dogs at the 1st Annual Bully Breed Bash held in Zilker Park. One of our dogs was Rockin’ Robbie, a young pit bull mix from TLAC. A woman and her little boy who were visiting from San Antonio fell hard for Robbie, but before they could get to the animal shelter the next day, Robbie was adopted by another couple. A few weeks later, Robbie’s new parents realized they were allergic to dogs, and they sadly returned him to TLAC. APA! was making plans to include Robbie in our offsite adoption program for TLAC dogs, when our President Ellen Jefferson got a call from the San Antonio woman. She had spotted Robbie on the TLAC website and still wanted to adopt him! Once Dr. Jefferson gave her a number for TLAC that would work in San Antonio, she rushed right up to Austin and adopted Robbie. Another happy ending.
