Austin Pets Alive! To Hold Gala Fundraiser October 25

Austin, Texas – August 27, 2015 – Austin Pets Alive!, the Capital Area’s largest no-kill animal rescue organization, will hold its third annual “Tricks and Treats” charity gala at the Hyatt Regency Austin hotel on Sunday evening, October 25, 2015 starting at 5:00 pm.

The black-tie optional  “Tricks and Treats” themed event will include a welcome reception, three-course gourmet dinner, and both silent and live auctions. All money will raised will support APA!’s mission to save companion animals from euthanasia and find them permanent homes.

“We’re excited to see the event coming together,” said Gala co-chair Becky Layne. “Our long-time supporter Austin Subaru is our presenting sponsor and we’ve also received commitments from HEB, Austin Event Lighting, and several other local businesses. We still have sponsorship opportunities for any merchants who want exposure to our premium animal-loving audience.”

Deb O’Keefe, morning co-host on 101.5 KROX, will emcee the evening’s activities. “Deb is a champion for all animals and we are so honored she agreed to join us,” said Layne.

APA Executive Director Dr. Ellen Jefferson says the event is critical for Austin to continue leading the national no-kill movement. “We were the first major U.S. city to reach this milestone, and sustaining our no-kill status is an ongoing process. Austin Pets Alive is a safety net for the shelter animals that just need extra time or treatment not traditionally available.  Thousands of dogs and cats enter Central Texas shelters each year and we want to make sure they all have a chance to make it out.”

Live and silent auctions will be key to the gala’s success. “We’re actively soliciting auction items for donation,” said Gala co-chair Liz Handlin. “This year we’re adding a way people can view the silent auction items and place bids online. It will be a great way for businesses to gain publicity and help save animals, too.”

Individual Gala tickets are $250, with full tables of 10 also available. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.austinpetsalive.org/events/tricks-treats/.  You can also visit ”TricksAndTreatsAustin” on Facebook and hashtag #TricksAndTreatsGala on Twitter.
