Paddle for Puppies is back for its seventh year!
Presented by Austin Subaru, this unique and fun event benefits the Austin Pets Alive! Parvo Puppy ICU and helps us save even more puppies in need.
The first of its kind in the nation, our Parvo Puppy ICU has saved more than 4,000 puppies since its creation, and on average continues to save 600 puppies each year. Parvo, short for the canine parvovirus, is a highly contagious viral illness, often affecting puppies or dogs lacking proper vaccinations, and without treatment, parvo is deadly.
The APA! Parvo Puppy ICU provides the shelters we support with an alternative to euthanasia for puppies who have contracted the virus and gives affected puppies a second chance at life. Our quarantine, careful cross-contamination protocols, and consistent care and treatment are now being shared with shelters across the country to help save even more lives. In addition to our own lifesaving, and teaching our methodologies to shelters wanting to start their own Parvo Puppy ICUs, we are also spearheading research into parvo treatment, which will help to further increase the number of lives saved.
Now you can help parvo puppies too! Just grab your friends, family, and water-loving dogs, and come on down to Rowing Dock on August 26th for Paddle for Puppies 2018.
The paddle begins at 7:45am at Rowing Dock, with check-in starting at 6:45am. Participants will make their way towards the Austin American Statesman property, 2.5 miles down the river, just past the Congress Street Bridge. Depending on skill level/wind/current, etc., this should take about an hour. From there, paddlers will turn around and head back to Rowing Dock.
The entire journey will be accompanied by live music – on the water! And snacks and cold brew will be waiting for you back on land.
Don’t wait to buy your tickets! Registration caps at 500 people and you don’t want to miss this fun-filled event!
Special thanks to Austin Subaru for sponsoring the event, Rowing Dock for hosting us and Come Drum For Fun for providing the music.
