The Cure for the “Empty Nester”

by austinpetsalive • Posted in: Foster

Despite the weather not acting accordingly, fall has arrived and in homes all over Central Texas children (and young adults) are heading back to school.  Many of these homes will have parents sending a child off to college for the first time and will come back to their home in Austin knowing their baby is all grown up and living in the dorms now.  But do not despair at the empty room – Austin Pets Alive knows how to help!

Foster!   Every day at Austin Pets Alive, we rescue dogs and cats from the kill list at surrounding shelters.  These animals need YOU to open your heart and offer that spare room for them to get ready for adoption.  Fostering is extremely rewarding as you can see here.  It is also very easy to do, as APA! will be with you every step of the way, from vet appointments to marketing your foster babies for adoption.

Please consider fostering a dog, cat, litter of puppies, litter of kittens, and/or pregnant mom!   Fill that empty room where your college student grew up in with a four-legged friend and they will love you unconditionally for it.  You can fill out a foster application here.  Thank you!

We all hope that our feline friends will be with us for a lifetime. For the elderly owner of Tasha and Cleo, that wasn’t to be. She was forced to give her faithful companions up for adoption due to her inability to continue caring for them. These poor lady cats have been devastated by the loss of their human companion. As if that wasn’t enough stress, the ladies have come down with a nasty kitty cold. They are scared, lonely, and not eating well. What they need is a quiet, safe place to get well.

Cleo is currently in the medical clinic receiving treatment. Tasha is with a foster, but will need a new foster by Friday. They would love to go to a new home together. With their previous owner, the ladies loved to follow her around the house. They both enjoy lap time and cuddles. They are calm, well mannered ladies. Can you open your heart and home to these ladies? All they want is a chance to be loved again.
