October Volunteer of the Month – Debra Leftwich!

by austinpetsalive • Posted in: Volunteer of the Month, Volunteering

Okay, so we are a little late, but that doesn’t make her any less amazing!  Debra Leftwich is a true rock star at Austin Pets Alive! and we’re so thankful for how much she has helped saved lives.  Here are just a few of the many things some of her fellow volunteers and staff have to say about her:

“She’s amazing!  She always shows up when you need her the most, and does a fantastic job at everything she does.”  ~ Tessa

“Debra is a wonderful asset for APA. She has been my foster mentor for 3 years and is always available to help or listen. She also has creative ideas about rallying volunteers around tasks that may not be so fun (like caring for and treating kitties with Ringworm fungus). I look forward to the “Fun N Fungus Fridays” she organizes where we meet at APA, dip the kitties, and then bleach and scrub their enclosure. It’s wonderful to catch up with Debra and the other volunteers and advocate for these cats. And we cheer when their Ringworm is  cleared or they get adopted. She takes being a part of APA seriously, but she makes it enjoyable. I’m glad to help alongside her, and happy to call her a friend.” ~Shorey

“I’ve never worked with Debra, but I want to because she makes the work fun.  And she is so committed to making our programs work.” ~Susan

“Debra gets the job done..  Any project you give her will be done fast and most importantly right!! She also is constantly aware of what is best for the cats. It doesn’t matter if it is a smelly time consuming job, if the cats will get better and find a good home she is all for it! She is also very dependable.  If she says she is going to do something she will.. Oh, and did I mention she is super fun to volunteer with?? :)” ~Casandra
