Friday, families were ordered to evacuate their trailers immediately, leaving dogs tied outside and cats trapped inside cages as floodwaters rose. With help from the local fire department, our team finally reached the neighborhood after searching for hours. What they found was heartbreaking: there are "dozens and dozens of dogs here." Our responders worked until the sun went down, bringing as many animals as they could to safety before later transporting dogs from the Crystal City shelter to Austin.
