Angela brings more than 25 years of strategic communications and marketing skills to our organization, including leadership experience at local, state and national levels for nonprofit and corporate entities. A lifelong animal lover and champion of adopting rescues, Angela was drawn to APA’s! innovative approach to saving the lives of companion animals. She attributes APA’s! no-kill philosophy to uniting her family with their beloved dog Cinder, who was adopted last year. Angela is incredibly excited about seizing opportunities to enhance brand messaging that will increase awareness of the importance and impact of APA!, AmPA!, and H.A.S.S.
Angela most recently served as vice president of strategic communications and marketing at Upbring, a Texas-based nonprofit focused on breaking the cycle of child abuse. At Upbring, she led the communications and marketing division to facilitate the design and execution of high-quality deliverables to drive consistent brand awareness and supporter engagement for more than 75 program locations across the state. She also led the organization through several high-profile crisis communications situations and launched digital marketing and internal communications programs.
Prior to Upbring, Angela held leadership and communications roles with the American Diabetes Association, The American Public Power Association, Hospice, and Peoples Bancorp. When she's not working, Angela enjoys reading, cooking vegetarian dishes, outdoor concerts, walking Cinder, and spending time with her family--preferably near water. She lives in Pflugerville with her husband, Napp, and their teens, Xy and Zayden.
