RJ Peters is a multi-faceted finance leader with strategic executive experience in both finance and operations. Having spent over 20 years working in a wide range of financial roles, he has held a number of senior positions, including VP, Director, and CFO for both commercial and non-profit organizations for places such as Cash America International, Portland Homeless Family Solutions, Childcare Network, and Galaxy Vets.
Prior to joining Austin Pets Alive, Mr. Peters was the Chief Financial Officer of Galaxy Vets, where he was responsible for building and leading the Finance department, managing all banking, payroll, and insurance needs of the organization, building a detailed financial model for internal management and external investors, and providing critical financial analysis for potential clinic acquisitions. After graduating with a BA from Harvard University in 1995, he went on to complete his MBA from Texas Christian University in 2005.
RJ brings a strategic mindset from both the financial and
operations perspective, which he hopes to put to good use by helping
APA! expand its financial reach in order to further its lifesaving
mission. As CFO, he’ll be a part of the core financial leadership of
Austin Pets Alive! and provide high-quality financial support throughout
the organization to create improvement and envision new possibilities
for its financial goals.
A passionate lover of animals, Mr. Peters and his wife have fostered over 50 cats in the past year, including his current foster litter of four ten-week-old kittens. He says, “The work that shelters do is near and dear to our hearts, and we very much know and appreciate the great work that APA! does.”
