Sylvester is a handsome hunk of sweetness who would like you to know his petting preferences right up front! He loves to lay on the bed and watch TV with you, but he is quite indignant if you attempt to hold him. Chin pets are simply exquisite. But, stroking his back? Just not acceptable! It's all pretty straightforward and if you comply you'll be rewarded with the best headbutts and a laid-back friend who is sure to endear himself to you.
We suspect Sylvester's previous humans used their hands as cat toys since Sylvester thinks soft bites to your hands are all a part of normal playtime. In fact, when his foster first gave him an enticing cat toy, befuddled Sylvester didn't know what to with it. Fortunately, he is learning how to play with traditional kitty toys, rather than hands, and has even mastered the art of chasing after string!
Sylvester is indifferent when it comes to other cats. He doesn't play or fight with them...just coexists peacefully. He's a quiet guy. In fact, his foster has never heard him meow! But, she did discover this big ol' lug loves to follow his people around once he's had a day or two of getting to know them and likes to curl up and sleep on their bed at night.
Sylvester has some experience being an indoor/outdoor cat - not all indoor, and just outdoor sometimes. He likes his creature comforts, but he also likes to experience the great outdoors from the safety of his own yard.
Sylvester would do best in a home without young children due to his propensity for play biting. Older children who are cat savvy and respectful of his preferences would likely be okay. He would be an excellent fit for an attentive adult or two who would enjoy a kitty companion with a calm and distinctively charming personality.
