We can't tell you about Anderson's past because she was found as a stray by a Good Samaritan, but we can tell you that she is a sweet old girl! She may look big and tough in her photo, but she's actually petite.
When Anderson first came to APA!, she was purring so loudly that the technicians giving her a physical couldn't hear her heartbeat! She is appreciative of the attention she receives, and will quietly lean into you for more pets. She is social and likes to be around people.
Anderson likes being petted on her head, but prefers that you don't touch her legs or tail. She will lick you and give you kitty kisses, though sometimes the kisses turn into love nips - all the while purring! Then she will lick you again. Finally, she will sit in your lap, again with her trademark purring; which seems to get louder, the happier she is. She does all this to show you that she has accepted you as her special human companion.
Anderson is good with other cats that leave her alone, so she should be be able to live with another cat, as long as they respect her and don't bully her. Because of her love nips, little kids should be supervised around her, but she should be fine with older kids who understand and appreciate her quirks.
Don't think that because of her age that Anderson isn't playful, because she would prove you wrong! Stick toys are her favorite. She will do her version of running after it (walking quickly), bat it around, pounce on it, bite it, and subdue it.
Anderson also gets very excited about wet food and treats! She has perfect litter box habits, though she needs a large box with high sides and/or a cover, because she will hang her hiney over the box - crouching is hard for her, so this will keep her inside the box and accident-free.
So we don't know what kind of life Anderson had before, but we know for sure the remainder of her life should be with people who would love an older-yet-still-spunky cat as their feline companion. Contact us today to set up a meet and greet with this lovely senior!
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
