Sassy, Playful, Particular

When Dana came to the APA! nursery, she fit in the palm of your hand. She had a tiny, scratchy meow and eyes like the ocean. The nursery feeders soon learned that she had a sassy attitude twice her size! When Dana decided she was done eating, she would swish her tail (all of 3 inches of it, at the time), put her ears back, and make a fiercely-adorable growly sound. It was hard to take her seriously, being super-cute and all; and even back then there was the temptation to tag her as a diva!

Then it was determined that Dana had digestive issues that caused megaesophagus (decreased movement of food from the throat to the stomach) - so it's no wonder that she got her attitude on when she was so little and being hand-fed, she was trying to tell everyone what was going on! She went to a foster home, started a special wet food diet regimen, and was prescribed meds to help with her digestion.

Dana is still small (though much bigger than the palm of your hand, of course) and still has her spunky personality that will keep you on your toes! And any wand toy will get her on HER toes - Da Bird and Da Mouse are her two favorites. She likes to stay active and will always be a willing playmate! She's mischievous too and will steal people's chairs as soon as they get up. She gets a kick out of you moving her from her stolen spot because it's an excuse to playfully bite and swat at your hands...all in good fun, Dana style!

Dana wants to lay on you, but doesn't want you to pet her when she does; she prefers to quietly sit with you. She will cuddle when she feels like it, and then it may turn into a wrestling match. She will use her claws and teeth, and while she doesn't break the skin, her human companions should be older and cat-experienced; she's not the companion for little kids. She's fine with other cats once she gets to know them, but will swat at them if she is hungry and they get between her and her food.

Dana has meds that help her to feel her best. She may have a pain episode once or twice a day. But, they usually only last for about 10 to 30 minutes. She prefers to be left alone during these bouts, or if the pain doesn't seem to be stopping you can give her extra meds. Like many people when they don't feel well, she's not looking to be comforted. She is mostly stable, but will vomit some, and as a result needs to have her dental situation monitored.

Dana is a little diva who was dealt a bit of a crummy hand! Her humans should be comfortable giving her meds and making sure she eats properly. And they should be able to see beyond her medical needs and absolutely love the firecracker spirit that is Dana. Contact us today to arrange a meet & greet!

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
