Jiji is a sweet young cat with a big, lovey heart. She is happiest being in contact with her humans, whether that's being near their heads, bumping noses, or on their laps. When she's not relaxing on the couch, she'll be your little cat-shaped shadow, following you room-to-room, soaking up every word you say to her. She will communicate to you, as well, in adorable broken purrs and tiny meows, especially when she needs some pets.
Jiji has keen doctor-cat skills; she seems to know just how her humans feel and how to go about comforting them. Her awareness may be due in part to her experiences with Jiji's first best friend, her sister, who passed away from FIP; Jiji took care of her until the very end. She enjoys playing with other FeLV+ cats now, and she's relaxed around dogs; although she does like to attack those waggy dog tails. Jiji can entertain herself, but her ideal home is a quiet one in which her humans are around most of the time to love on her---other furry friends are a bonus. It is unknown how Jiji would get along with children, but older, cat-savvy kids would likely do fine.
Jiji is FeLV+ (Feline Leukemia Virus), which causes a weakened immune system and requires special care. APA! provides some medical assistance after adoption. Cats with FeLV typically have a shortened lifespan. Jiji is not contagious to people or dogs, but should live only with other FeLV+ cats. All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
