Playful, Sensitive, Adorably Clumsy

Buster is a handsome cat with gentle eyes, big furry paws, and long silky fur. In some ways, he may remind you of a slightly rumpled, quirky relative - the kind who forgot to press his shirt and comb his hair, and who asks you and your brand new boyfriend when you're going to get married.

He loves playing with other cats, but doesn't quite get their social signals telling him they've had enough and want to be left alone. And when they tell him more emphatically, say with a hiss, he gets a little scared. He can be a little messy - he doesn't always shake the litter crumbs out from between his toes, and he sometimes knocks things off counters or tips over the trash. But then he looks up at you with total love in those gorgeous eyes, and then you just can't possibly get mad at him!

Buster plays well with the dog in his foster home. And the dog, who is generally a little cautious about cats, is really comfortable with Buster. So maybe Buster is more of a "dog's cat than a "cat's cat. We haven't seen Buster with kids, but he might not be the best fit for small children because he can forget to keep his claws in when he's enthusiastically playing. Buster loves to play! He'll run up and down the stairs at top speed, play "run and chase with the other cats, and leap after his wand toys and snatch them out of the air.

Buster likes to be out in the open with his people so he can interact with them. If he feels like you're excluding him, he'll definitely tell you so. He'll even hover around your feet so that you have to notice him and pay attention. He loves to be petted, and he'll let you pick him up and carry him around. He likes to be held close, but not for long periods of time. His foster Mom says that he has such a calm, sweet energy when she's spending good one-on-one time with her.

As much as he loves playing, Buster is equally happy to sit in a sunny window, watch the world go by, and then nap for hours. He sleeps deeply, sometimes snores, and twists himself into the most adorable sleeping positions. Just be aware that, even when he's asleep, he's always listening with one ear for the sound of an opening door. He must have been an outdoor cat at one point, because he does try to dart out the door.

Buster would thrive in an active home with adults and older, respectful kids who enjoy playing with and cuddling him. Ideally, he'd love to have a cat-friendly dog buddy, too.

Buster is FeLV+ (Feline Leukemia Virus), which causes a weakened immune system and requires special care. APA! provides some medical assistance after adoption. Cats with FeLV typically have a shortened lifespan. Buster is not contagious to people or dogs, but should live only with other FeLV+ cats.
