We just know that there's a sweet, loving lap cat hiding behind Kiara's shy, skittish facade. She and her littermates came to us when they were all very young. Kiara had to be separated for a few months because of illness and ringworm. She probably learned to associate humans with getting icky medicine and Lymdips, so no wonder she's now wary of them.
But now that she's in a loving foster home, we're already seeing glimmers of her true self! Instead of hiding behind the sofa all day, she now enjoys interactive play. She loves to chase wand toys and balls, and will proudly parade around with a ball after she has captured it. After a play session, she will often allow a bit of petting. Sometimes she'll settle onto the couch a few feet away from you for a nap.
We do believe that daily gentle, respectful interaction through play will help her learn to trust people again. Her siblings, who are with her in foster, are friendly and affectionate, and they'll also help convince Kiara that people are good!
Kiara loves other cats! She plays happily with her siblings, and is always trying to entice her foster's adult cats to play with her. She doesn't seek out or play with the foster's dog, but is not afraid of him.
Wouldn't it be gratifying to teach this darling little girl how wonderful it is to love and be loved by people? Wouldn't you love to see her blossom into a purring lap cat? Kiara would thrive in a quiet, respectful home, with a cat-friendly kitty companion and a mom or dad who is a "cat whisperer.
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
