Mau loves his lap time so much that he'll meow if you put him down before he's ready! It's as if he's trying to make up for all those years when no one gave him the love he craved (he was rescued from a hoarding situation). But frankly, we don't know how anyone can resist holding and cuddling this stunningly handsome guy! With his gorgeous medium-length fur, a splendid plume of a tail, and Frank Sinatra blue eyes, he's as stunning as he is sweet.
Mau is a loving, sugar-sweet senior kitty. He may be shy when he first meets you, but overall adores for people to love on him. He will purr up a storm, flop over, and stretch languidly while you brush him all over (yes, even on his belly - no worries, it's not a "trap"!). He'll roll around in delight, show you his big floofy paws, and make air biscuits. He likes it when you hold him like a baby, because then he can give you head butts and kitty kisses.
After years of neglect, Mau developed severe periodontal disease and recently had all of his teeth extracted - and he feels sooooo much better! Cats have no problem adapting to the loss of their teeth, and Mau can eat wet food and dry food just fine - just ask the resident cats in his foster home, because Mau will sometimes try to steal their food (and he might investigate the kitchen counter to see if there is any food up there that he could score)! Other than being pushy at mealtime, he gets along with the other cats, and snuggles with one of them.
Mau is interested in playing with crinkle balls and plastic springs - and he will zoom after the laser dot! Then he's thrilled to hang out with you or snooze the day away in his one of his favorite spots: the upper cubby or platform on the cat tree, a cardboard box, or a cozy, plush blanket. He is talkative and affectionate, and seems to prefer male humans over female humans; or at least, he is partial to his foster dad (he loves his foster mom, too, never fear!). Mau will wake up his favorite human in the morning by meowing at him and giving him kitty kisses and affectionate taps with his paw.
We haven't seen Mau with kids or dogs, but loud chaotic situations scare him and make him run and hide, so he would be stressed and scared by small kids or loud, rambunctious dogs. He has impeccable house manners, uses his scratching pad and litter box, and even lets you trim his nails without a fuss.
Mau would love a quiet home with people who can be with him most of the time, provide a comfy lap for him (regularly scheduled lap and snuggle time is imperative), and shower him with love. We promise he will return that love many times over. Wouldn't you love to give him the loving home he so richly deserves? If so, contact us today to meet Mau.
