Does this guy know how to rock a bow tie or what?! Meet Hugh! He's friendly, loving and playful and will keep you in stitches...the good kind! Hugh is very affectionate and loves to climb on your shoulder and whisper sweet nothings in your ear. Well, it's more of a purr than a whisper, but the happiness and love he's expressing are undeniable and so sweet! While he's there, he'll give you little kisses too!
This cutie will make a toy out of anything...wine corks, lip balm, dust bunnies or even his cat buddy's tail! He thinks traditional toys are fun too and will romp after balls and sticks and loves chewing on his catnip toys. He enjoys playing with his human friends, but also plays nicely by himself. He's the curious sort and will meticulously explore the fascinating contents of your laundry basket and is always the first on the scene to investigate if you drop food on the floor.
You haven't truly lived until you've done a downward dog with a "helpful" cat and Hugh is more than happy to assist! He will get face-to-face with you when you're in position and then go lick your feet! If you toss him a toy, then yoga time is over for this toy-lover...namaste...time to play! Hugh's idol is the 3-year-old, resident cat. Hugh likes to imitate him and wants to be just like him when he grows up! We haven't seen Hugh around kids. But, hard to imagine such a friendly sweetheart wouldn't do well with kind children.
Hugh's happy-go-lucky spirit is even more impressive in light of the spinal damage he experienced prior to arriving at the shelter. Despite not having the use of one back leg as a result, he energetically runs using his other legs as if it's the most normal thing in the world. His foster is working on rehabilitating his injured leg and is seeing increasing movement. We have every reason to believe Hugh's progress in this regard will continue.
Hugh's spinal injury has resulted in incontinence and he requires some extra medical care, which may include a regulated diet and/or manual expression. For more information, please contact APA!. His vet has indicated that as his spine continues to heal his incontinence could go away. Fortunately, Hugh's physical limitations don't stop him from being a carefree, affectionate kitty, and an especially lovable one!
Whether it's snuggling in your lap, giving you gentle kisses or joyfully scampering after a toy, Hugh is an absolute delight. If you want to see what an unstoppable passion for life and love looks like, contact us to meet Hugh today!
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
