Already have another cat or five? Great! Clyde absolutely loves other cats and is super excited to meet his new kitty BFFs at his forever home! For Clyde, humans take some warming up to, so having another cat around is the best way for him to know that people aren't in fact super scary monsters.
Currently, Clyde enjoys playing with his foster family's cat the most, closely followed by playing with strings and other toys he can chase. He's so much happier to be living with his foster family instead of the shelter where he previously lived. It was just too scary and brought out a more stressed out, hissy side of him. But now that he's comfortable in a home where he has a kitty pal to hang out with, Clyde has gotten a lot better about opening up to his humans!
The key to getting Clyde to warm up to you isn't hard, it just takes patience! He might spend the first week or two in a hissy mood, but once he's comfortable in his new environment, he will let you pet him and will purr when he's relaxed. And it's so rewarding when he finally comes around - the first pet he lets you give him is downright magical!
By now, we've established that Clyde loves other cats, but dogs are an unknown for him. An easygoing dog might provide the same reassurance another cat will for him, but it would be a new experience. Given Clyde's nervousness around new people and quick movements, young kids would probably make him extremely nervous, so a quieter, all adult home will help him live his best life!
It goes without saying that being held and sitting on laps isn't really Clyde's thing, but he is a very chill guy who makes a great pal to fellow cats. So if having a lap cat isn't top priority for you, Clyde might just be your perfect forever friend (or at least the perfect friend to your other cats while he warms up to you)!
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
