Xena is a true warrior princess. She's been through some tough times in her past life, which resulted in a leg amputation, but after being showered with love and attention in her foster home, she's become a whole new dog. That missing leg doesn't slow her down at all, she really enjoys her walks through the neighborhood, and she can jump up on the couch all by herself!

When you come through the door, Xena gets so excited to see you that her whole body wiggles, then she runs to get her favorite toy to show it to you. Xena LOVES her squeaky toys. She has a favorite that's a squeaky avocado, and when she hears it squeak, she will wake from a dead sleep with ears fully perked.

True to her name, Xena has been an absolute princess in her foster home, and her affectionate morning nuzzles are a wonderful start to the day. She gets super excited to see you wake up and does a nuzzling thing in your face while pressing her body on top of you with her butt sticking up in the air. Those eyes will melt your soul and that tail will tell you everything you need to know. There's so much love in her eyes that her foster mom says she can hardly stand it.

Xena is protective of those that she loves and will let you know if she hears something outside, but she warms up quickly to new people once she knows they're supposed to be there. After initially meeting someone and they sit down, Xena's ready to be their best friend and snuggle. She also does wonderfully with her foster's 7 year-old male boxer and may be able to live with a well-matched doggie sibling who will let her be the boss. She loves to play and tries to get the resident pup dog to rough house with her, but he's never been into all that.

Despite her impressive strength, Xena is an incredibly gentle girl. She is very careful when taking treats and giving kisses, and even though she is so excited about walks, she patiently waits for her harness to be put on at the door. She does well left home alone and waits to get up for food until it's put down and you call for her.

An absolute gem of a dog, Xena would make a wonderful addition to any number of loving homes. Come meet this sweet girl!
