Fast forward to today where he lives in a foster home and prefers naps over sprinting and snuggles over high energy toy playing. His foster reports they can rest their cereal bowl on his head while eating breakfast! What a difference a home environment makes! Trent loves his toys still but plays with them ever so gently, and most of the stuffing is still intact. He eats his meals out of a kong wobbler in his crate and snores the day away while his foster parents are at work.
While in foster, Trent has grown accustomed to the crate and long, rambling walks around the apartment complex. Trent is a PRO at snuggling and will nose his way on to laps, couches and over your feet. Trent, of course, hasn't forgotten the lessons he learned at the shelter and knows sit, down, how to walk nicely on leash and is working on greeting visitors properly.
He was cat tested within the shelter environment, with a cat safely enclosed in a large space and Trent on leash. He showed interest in the cat but softened and obeyed obedience commands; he never barked or pulled toward the cat. Based on the assessment, he has shown the possibility of living successfully with a cat with a firm training plan in place to fully integrate the animals over a long period of time.
Trent is the sweetest boy that has almost completed his transformation from wild child to happy couch potato. Now he just needs his forever home!
