Trent is a rough and tumble boy who is learning about manners and how to find the right level of energy vs. relaxation. It really helps if someone can play fetch for a while or take him for a long hike, so his house manners can be impeccable. He also enjoys games that work his brain like a Kong Wobbler, so he was to work for his food. He might be a little too hyper for small children until he gets older, but he could do well with older kids who can remind him of boundaries.
Trent knows that life isn't all about play and has been working hard in his learning too. He knows all the basics like walking calmly on leash, sit, down, stay and coming when called (at least when the leash is still attached). Once Trent has had a full day of fun and energy burning, there is nothing he likes more than curling up with his human for belly rubs and snuggles. His whole body melts against you and he sinks to floor to fully enjoy his lovin'.
He was cat tested within the shelter environment, with a cat safely enclosed in a large space and Trent on leash. He showed interest in the cat but softened and obeyed obedience commands; he never barked or pulled toward the cat. Based on the assessment, he has shown the possibility of living successfully with a cat with a firm training plan in place to fully integrate the animals over a long period of time.
Trent is an exuberant boy who will be a great fit into any home looking for a playful, friendly and intelligent pup. Come visit and see if he's perfect for your family.
