If you're looking for a whip-smart, playful, fun-loving dog, Cookie is it! This golden boy is the whole package-brains, beauty and stunning athleticism! His joy is contagious when he's in his element-chasing tennis balls and scampering around the play yard like an overgrown puppy.

An accomplished fetch player, he will take off at lightening speed the moment he hears the word, "Take! Then he will drop the ball at your feet when he hears, "Drop! He loves the thrill of the chase! He also loves his humans. When you win over his trust, he will be your loyal sidekick for life. He has won over the hearts of several volunteers who all agree that Cookie is a very devoted, sweet-natured boy.

Outside the play yard, he's busy with his Top Dog trainer, mastering a number of skills that will make him a model citizen in the home. On a weekly basis, he's proving himself to be a very smart Cookie! He knows how to "hold it in the kennel and in a home, according to a stellar report from his sleepover buddy.

Cookie is thriving in APA!'s Total Obedience Program and recently became TOP Dog Ready, which means he has already learned all the skills in his training plan. The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP Dog, Cookie has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help him learn the skills to become the best dog he can be!

Dogs in the program learn skills including sit and down, walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers, calmly walking past another dog, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called and "Place, which means Cookie will go to a specific place in your home on command.

Cookie has worked hard to become a wonderful companion, and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Cookie after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based:

Please consider meeting Cookie today so you can see how much this fun-loving pup has to offer! He's truly one of a kind and will undoubtedly make his future forever family very happy.
