Like the dog detective, Scooby is the perfect sidekick. Smart, loyal and a skilled detective! Plus he's a little on the goofy side. He will look at you with his head tilt and adoring eyes. He moves through life like a happy, gangly pre-teen with some pretty hilarious and uncoordinated moments.

Scooby has a zest for life that just makes you happy to be around him. Whether he's throwing a toy in the air, splashing around in a plastic pool, batting his eyelashes in an attempt to charm treats out of you, or falling off the couch while focusing too hard on the toy he's playing with, he lives his life to the fullest!

He loves to run, play fetch, tug of war with his favorite rope toy and sit in the water. After playing hard, he will go right into the plastic pool or mud hole of your choosing. He loves to be outside in the warm sunshine and has a favorite big rock he likes to sit on. When he's not on the rock, he loves to snuggle and sit in your lap.

He loves his people and will show his love with lots of kisses, lean in's and snuggles and will even sit on your lap if you let him!

Scooby has spent some time in a home where he was potty and crate trained. He also seemed playful and easygoing around cats. Scooby has learned some basic commands and is a smart guy who seems eager to learn more...because he'll do anything for a treat!

Scooby is also in the Total Obedience Program. The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modelled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Scooby has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help him learn the skills to become the best dog he can be! He is learning skills like sit and down, walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," and coming when called.

Once Scooby successfully completes all the skills on his training plan he will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Scooby is working hard to become a wonderful pet and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Scooby after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based:

Once you meet this flirtatious, charming and playful young guy, you will be saying Scooby Dooby Doo -- I love you!!
