Check out Fulton's Videos!

Fulton is a mostly mellow boy who has occasional silly spells - he'll trot around the yard like a horse, then break into zoomies and even try to scratch himself while on the run. Besides making for adorably awkward entertainment, Fulton's is a HUGE fan of other dogs. He has lived with dogs in the past and goes to playgroup daily to hang out with his canine friends. On a recent sleepover, he had a blast with the resident dog and they spent pretty much the entire time playing chase, wrestling or snuggling. Fulton is excellent at giving and receiving appropriate corrections with dogs and has also previously lived successfully with four cats.

Fulton seems to have excellent manners in the home - he's very good about not getting up on furniture without being invited, doesn't get into things he shouldn't and isn't destructive. On sleepovers he's been crated overnight in a separate room and slept quietly through the night. And if there isn't a doggie playmate around, Fulton's is good at keeping himself entertained and will bat around a ball by himself or just hang out and chew on a Kong.

Fulton has some relatively minor neurological issues that are managed with medication. As a result of these issues, he can seem aloof, but having a doggie playmate around seems to make him much more social with people. Fulton doesn't really show well at the shelter because he doesn't pay much attention to potential adopters, but having a dog around makes him much more social with humans. Once he's in the home and warmed up, he becomes a totally different dog and will show his people affection and even cuddle with them.

Fulton is also thriving in APA!'s Total Obedience Program. The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Fulton has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help him learn the skills to become the best dog he can be! Fulton is learning skills like sit and down, walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called and "Place", which means he will go to a specific place in your home on command.

Once Fulton successfully completes all the skills on his training plan, he will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Fulton is working hard to become a wonderful companion, and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Fulton after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together.
