Nokie (which sounds similar to the famous Italian dish gnocchi) is looking for her forever home. This sweet lady is the perfect sous chef as she is happy to hang out in the kitchen and make sure to monitor that all recipes are made to perfection.

Nokie has lived in a home previously, and has shown on sleepovers that she knows all the tricks of the trade, and should be able to make a quick transition to your home.

This affectionate, sweet girl is a professional cuddler and is generally calm around the home. However, she will enjoy some exercise with you and she'll help make it fun! After spending time in the kitchen creating some top chef dishes, she loves to go on long walks to shake off the flour and burn off the calories! She'll also enjoy playing tug-of-war or fetch. Of course, she wants to be back in time for treat desserts.

Need to run out for more ingredients? No problem. Nokie is well-behaved around the home whether she's in or out of a crate. She also knows her basic commands, and wouldn't mind learning more, so she'll be an excellent apprentice!

Nokie enjoys learning new things and is in the Total Obedience Program. The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Nokie has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help her learn the skills to become the best dog she can be! She is learning skills like sit and down, walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," as well as 'place' (running-to and staying-in a designated spot) and coming when called.

Once Nokie successfully completes all the skills on her training plan she will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Nokie is working hard to become a wonderful pet and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Nokie after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based:

So set your DVR to record Giada De Laurentiis, and come and meet Nokie as she's looking to say ciao to Austin Pets Alive!
