Gage is a Hurricane Harvey survivor who is turning into a professional leash walker. This easygoing boy prances along the trail at his person's side and hardly notices those pesky quirrels.

When this sweetie arrived from Houston, he was overwhelmed and scared, but then he found out people were dispensers of food, and today he could not be happier about his new life, learning that toys are fun to play with and doing zoomies.

Gage enjoys learning new things. He already answers to the 'sit' and 'down' commands and is in APA's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program, working with a volunteer trainer several times a week toward the goal of passing the American Kennel Club's CGC test! Gage has been working hard to be a dog you can take anywhere with pride. To pass the CGC test, a dog must demonstrate obedience and general reliability in real world situations. Dogs in APA's CGC program learn to sit and down, walk nicely on leash, sit calmly when approached by strangers or another dog, won't approach people or dogs without permission, greet people appropriately, stay in a sit or down until told "free," and come when called. As part of APA's CGC program you can work with APA to continue to build a training relationship with B after adoption and get officially CGC certified for free! Check out a video about CGC:

Gage is a companionable boy who loves being smooched on. He will love a home where he can sunbathe and watch the world go by from a big window. Come take this boy for a walk and see if he's right for yours!
