When a plumber, repairman, or any kind of worker comes to his foster home, Saul trots up to greet them with a wagging tail and then follows them around "assisting" them with their work. Invariably, they get misty-eyed, petting his head and recalling the "best old dog" they ever had growing up. Saul just seems to have the wisdom of a hundred other good dogs behind those soulful eyes and has probably even earned his foster family a few discounts.

Saul is no spring chicken, but he doesn't seem to know that. He still gets a lot of enjoyment out of life, and he gets around well for an old-timer. He loves to toss around stuffed toys, chew on tennis balls, wander around the back yard nibbling grass and nap in sunbeams. He dances joyfully when he thinks it's mealtime or when people come home. He enjoys the company of other dogs, but when his doggy foster brothers bark their heads off at a squirrel or a passing dog, Saul is content to let them handle it and takes the opportunity to get extra snuggles from the humans. People are his very favorite thing and he loves every person he meets. He would never turn away affection but he's capable of entertaining himself - and, of course, he takes a lot of naps.

He is house-trained, can be left alone in the house all day, and knows the difference between dog toys and human things. He would do well with a large family, a single person, or anything in between. He is a great listener and makes everyone feel they are his best friend. Saul is a natural stress reliever and would love to "help" with homework, tax preparation, or housework. He's not the biggest fan of stairs, but he is great with other dogs and walks nicely on a leash.

Saul makes his foster family smile every day and is nowlooking for a forever home to spend his retirement years. Come meet him and see if he's perfect for yours!
