This little girl is pretty as a penny and worth more than a million bucks! If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate and super smart pooch, Penny is your girl! She is a total love-bug and will befriend anyone who's willing to give her belly rubs. Once she flops over in your lap and flashes that silly grin, you know you've got a best friend for life!

On a recent sleepover, Penny showed that she is ready for a home of her own. She was a perfect guest and appears to be housebroken. When not exploring the new smells and quietly watching the world from the windows, she wanted to be cuddling with her person. She could also potentially go home to a well-matched doggie sibling!

In addition to being a total snuggle-bug, Penny is an A-student in APA!'s Total Obedience Program. The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Penny has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help her learn the skills to become the best dog she can be! Penny is learning skills like sit and down, walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," coming when called and "Place, which means she will go to a specific place in your home on command.

Once Penny successfully completes all the skills on her training plan, she will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Penny is working hard to become a wonderful companion, and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Penny after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based:

When Penny's not working on her skills, she loves to run, walk, swim and chase after balls. If you need an exercise buddy, she's up for the job!

So what do you say? Why not meet Penny today and see all the riches she has to offer?
