If you're looking for a sassy walking or running partner, Aggie's your girl! Aggie doesn't like being her in kennel, but once she is out on a the trail she relaxes and her true colors come out - calm on walks but with a lot of personality.

Aggie's very playful and does a lot of zoomies. She likes dogs and does well in playgroup, even if her inner brat comes out once in a while. When volunteers have her out in a yard, she'll ignore their attempts to play fetch and then will suddenly start throwing the ball to herself to show she's an independent girl. But she's at her best when she's out on adventures with her person.

The trail seems to be Aggie's happy place. She's also amazingly smart and very treat-motivated. She already knows how to sit, down, roll, come, shake and touch and is currently learning "place". On a recent sleepover, Aggie quickly learned which door would let her out, then would go stand by it to ask to go out to use the restroom. Aggie makes for a very chill walking companion, is easy on leash, and while she likes to stop and smell the roses, we also think she'd make a great running partner.

In fact, Aggie's such a sharp pup, we've put her in APA!'s Total Obedience Program. The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modeled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Aggie has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help her learn the skills to become the best dog she can be! Aggie is learning skills like sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," and coming when called.

Once Aggie successfully completes all the skills on her training plan, she will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Aggie is working hard to become a wonderful companion, and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Aggie after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together. Check out a video on APA's CGC program, on which the TOP was based:

Don't be fooled by the gray in her face - Aggie is only a 4 year old pup who is always up for some exercise. When she's warmed up a bit, she'll become your loyal sidekick and even lean into you for pets. She becomes extremely affectionate and loving with her people and gives lots of kisses and demands belly rubs and head massages. She'll even grab your arm with her front legs and hold it to get you to rub her chest!

Come meet Aggie and see why all the APA! volunteers are falling head over heels for this "shy little spitfire"!
