Tyra is two-third's hippie chick. Around people, she is as chill as chill can be. She loves to be pet, and to be near you. She has no problem being picked up and handled, despite the fact her size makes that an awkward process. And when she is outside, she is at one with nature. The bees and flowers are her friends. She basks in the sunshine, rolls in the grass, and sniffs and explores with an air that is downright spiritual.

Tyra is house trained in every sense of the word. She is completely calm and respectful in the house, doesn't chew what should not be chewed and even walks daintily. She is big, but walks like a ballerina. She adores being near you, but won't climb or jump inappropriately. And she is cool being crated, if that if your preference. She loves to play with toys and will often greet her foster parent with her favorite toy in her mouth ready to play.

The best home for Tyra would be one with a fenced-in yard. She would be a great candidate for a doggie door. The rest is a breeze. She's just a huge sweetheart.

Tyra also enjoys learning new things. She's even trained for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test and recently became CGC Ready, which means she successfully passed the American Kennel Club's CGC test with her volunteer trainer! Tyra has been working hard to be a dog you can take anywhere with pride. To pass the CGC test, a dog must demonstrate obedience and general reliability in real world situations. An APA CGC-ready dog knows sit and down, walks nicely on leash, will sit calmly when approached by strangers or another dog, won't approach people or dogs without permission, greets people appropriately, stays in a sit or down until told "free," and comes when called. As part of APA!'s CGC program you can work with APA to continue to build a training relationship with Tyra after adoption and get officially CGC certified for free!
