Calm, Playful, Cautious

Hello! It is time you meet John. He is a friendly, quiet cat that is also low maintenance. He will make a great companion.

At first he is a shy little guy. He is curious and goes about cautiously when studying something or someone new. He warms up after gaining one's trust. Trust is gained by patience and plenty of play time together.

He can't resist a wand toy and will come out of his shell to play. He will play with the wand until the human's arms get tired. He's also happy to play alone, especially with a mouse toy to bat around. He knows how to entertain himself when needed.

Once John understands that he is in a loving home, he turns on his affection. He'll bump your hands to get your attention. He'll keep bumping until you give him lots of pets. Now is when he stretches out for belly rubs. Other times he'll climb up next to you for some pets and rubs. Petting is when he turns on his purr machine. He purrs quietly and it is a delight to hear. After a bit he may take a nap beside you.

Occasionally he gives out a tiny squeak of a meow. Usually when he's excited to see you! His meow is nice to hear.

He plays well with his brother and adult humans. It is unknown his experiences with other cats, dogs or kids. Once he has adapted to his forever home, he most likely could adapt well to others with slow, gentle introductions.

John has a brother (Jay, APA-A-100839) and they are inseparable. They love to play and nap together. It would be great if they were adopted together! Both kitties are up for adoption, but it is not necessary to adopt both.

John's ideal forever home would be with humans that provide a safe, calm environment. His family needs to be patient to earn his trust. Ideally a family that spends time playing with him every day, and provides him with toys.

You really do need to meet this handsome fellow!

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
