Big, Beautiful, Loving
Cousin Spencer loves to be near his people! He always greets his foster mom at the door, and often follows her around, winding between her legs. Sometimes it's a request for food or attention, but often he just wants to be involved in what you're doing. He's such a goofball!
Fun fact: Cousin Spencer has just ONE bonus toe! It's hidden below one of his front paw thumbs, making one paw look bigger than the other.
This fella will talk to you, too! He tends to be chatty mostly when he wants something-especially if his foster dares to leave the kitchen without feeding him. He's mostly a chill dude, but sometimes wants to play with a ball or string toy-he can usually be coaxed into playtime if you offer. He also has great litterbox and scratching post manners!
In addition to being talkative, Cousin Spencer often communicates with gentle nips and swats, and he would benefit from patient people that will redirect him as needed. In particular, he prefers to initiate most interactions, and likes to rub himself on your legs more than he likes to be pet. With a slow approach, he does enjoy a good below-the-ears rub.
Cousin Spencer seems to be a fan of kitty friends! He's currently working on winning over his fostermate, Empress Juliet Thoroughwood (APA-A-99395), and though she's slow to warm up, he hasn't given up. We think he'd do well as an only kitty or with another friendly (FeLV+) kitty. He's had only limited interactions with dogs, and wasn't too sure about them, so he'll need at least a slow introduction.
Cousin Spencer has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Cousin Spencer can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
