Chill, Interactive, Affectionate

Cats can have a "reputation" for being a bit dramatic at times; but Van Pelt disputes and reverses this reputation! He is No Drama Van Pelt, whether it be the vacuum or other animals in the house. NBD to him!

He is very curious about the resident cat in his foster home, but gives her the space she wants because she is skittish around other cats; they cohabitate just fine. As for the chill resident dog - Van Pelt and the dog will lay down together! He might not care for a super-duper energetic pup, but he's fine and dandy with one as low-key and calm as he is.

In fact, Van Pelt is rather like a dog with his happy loyalty for his people! He will immediately greet you when you get home and then follow you around. He loves attention and will gently touch you with his paw to let you know he is ready for some pets - and/or to be picked up. He loves to lay in your lap and will let you carry him around like a baby - or even on your shoulder!

One funny thing about Van Pelt is his love of his cat carrier. Many times he'll get in it all by himself! Usually Van Pelt prefers finding something soft to lay on - like a cozy blanket or your lap - to playing. He's a senior guy who is comfortable in his own skin, and happy to just BE. He's so easy to get along with, he even had a short-term gig at APA! as the Office Cat!

Van Pelt takes meds to keep his GI health as chill as he is! He is on a special diet as well; he is currently on Royal Canin Selected Protein.

Van Pelt would love a calm home as no-drama as he is! He's a sweet charmer, and makes the best companion. He's such a handsome boy with the cutest face. Contact us today to arrange a meet & greet!

Before his stay with APA!, Van Pelt was declawed. As a result of this he must remain an indoor cat.

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
