Mellow, Cautious, Discriminatingly Affectionate
Silly Bandz is an elegant boy who is a perfect combination of independent and loving. He doesn't want to be constantly petted and fawned over, but he does have an affectionate, snuggly side. He is so handsome with his gorgeous, longhaired tabby coat and his fluffy white bib. The bold black liner around his eyes really brings out their sparkling beauty.
When Silly Bandz is in the mood for affection, he doesn't hold back! He will rub up against you and push his head into your hand for pets - his favorite spots are along the bridge of his nose and on his cheeks. He enjoys sitting in your lap and likes to lay on your chest purring contently. He also makes perfect biscuits with his pristine white gloves. He is blind in one eye which doesn't seem to bother him and has earned him the nickname Sparrow, after Jack Sparrow the one-eyed pirate, by his foster family.
There are times when Silly Bandz wants his space and doesn't want to be petted. Some may call it persnickety, we call it being a cat! He enjoys having some alone time for naps or to just chill out. When he first wakes up, he tends to want to thaw out a bit without being petted. And, there are times when he wants to hang out near you, but not get lovey dovey. If you start petting him and he doesn't like it, he will sometimes gently swish his fluffy tail to let you know. He tends to do this less the more comfortable he becomes. But, a home without young children is best.
For the most part, Silly Bandz is a very calm, well-behaved boy. He doesn't try to open up the food bag or to get into places he knows he doesn't belong. He has a playful side that he will occasionally reveal. Bring out the string toy on a stick and he will bat it around and chase after it like a happy kitten!
Loud noises and commotion sometimes spook Silly Bandz. His ideal home would be on the quiet side with adults only or older kids who respect his boundaries. He doesn't cuddle on demand, but when he feels like sharing affection, you won't find a sweeter kitty! Contact us to schedule an introduction to this wonderful guy!
Silly Bandz has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Silly Bandz can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
