Sassy, affectionate, petite

Say hello to Rio! This fluffy queen is a fan favorite amongst shelter staff members. Rio is the sweetest tabby in town -- she will be sure to let you know when she's in the mood for a cozy snuggle. Hit her up with some head skritches - she loves them! When you have the audacity to shut the door on her when she's high on cuddle energy, she will sometimes stick her white-socked paws under the door, showing off her toe beans to communicate that she wants in.

Large and in charge, Rio is both petite and a mega chonker. This gives her a potato-like silhouette, which suits her perfectly as an avid couch potato. She will climb into your lap to watch your latest favorite TV show with you ... but only when she feels like it. She's the warmest sweetie pie as long as you respect her boundaries. She's the biggest sucker for some simple, good ol' company!

Rio likes to play sometimes, and will kick a ball around the livingroom. Dunk that ball in catnip and you'll really get her going! If you want to join in, wave a cat wand around, or any type of string. It's fun to see her jumping around.

Rio would thrive in a home that includes adults, young adults and older, cat-savvy kids. She prefers to be the queen of her household. She will happily live with other kitties, but they need to be chill and let her be in charge.

Like many of us, Rio treasures her quiet time. She loves a restful nap and only wants attention on her own terms, so she'd thrive in a household that gives her breathing room - like with a human who works a full-time job.

Rio has Chronic Kidney Disease, which means her kidneys are not functioning as well as they once were. This condition is so common in older cats that APA! offers a special adoption package for them. Read more about renal failure and adoption details here: https://bit.ly/2YudG90

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
