Patient, Resilient, Calm
Rusty Wallace is the broody quiet type. He likes to observe from afar and take his time to assess before making any rash decisions. He is still finding his bearings while adjusting to life indoors, but is making great progress everyday!
Before his time at APA!, Rusty Wallace seems to have been through a lot! He was an outdoor cat, and has some healing injuries that indicate he may have been hit by a car or a similar accident. He persevered through most of his healing process while still outside, and has only recently begun to learn how comfortable life can really be! As he adjusts, Rusty Wallace has taken on more of an observatory role. He is patient and calm as he learns about any new environment, and tends to keep to himself at first. He hopes to find a purr-fect family to match this energy and give him patience and grace right back!
The easiest way to earn Rusty Wallace's trust and affection is to feed him! He loves the idea of a free meal, and eagerly rubs up on his human's legs as they prepare his food. Yummy treats may just be the ticket to getting this boy fully under your spell! For a boy with no bottom teeth, he sure can keep up his appetite! Rusty Wallace has so much potential to relax into a cuddly cat, but just hasn't allowed himself to fully let go of his tough outdoor cat exterior. He is hoping to find a calm human or two who would love to give him the time and space to bloom into the friendly cat he knows he can be!
If your home is searching for a calm companion cat who will seamlessly fit in - Rusty Wallace is the feline for you! He will thrive in a quieter environment with humans around to remind him how sweet and kind they can be. A family that will allow him the chance to fully unwind and build up a layer of trust is just what Rusty Wallace is hoping for. He has all the potential in the world to be a sweet and cuddly cat - now he just needs the chance to thrive! Contact APA today to add Rusty Wallace to your family!
Rusty Wallace has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. Rusty Wallace can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care.
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
