Gentle, Affectionate, Precious!
Beifong rocks his tuxedo! And his lopsided white mustache is so cute that it will probably make you laugh, because it will tickle your funny bone!
This handsome boy was born with underdeveloped eyes, and is blind. And blind cats are amazing! They learn to navigate their environment using their superpower hearing, sense of smell, and memory. Show Beifong where things are, and soon he will be walking confidently around the house; in fact, once he settles in and gets used to everything, you might sometimes forget that he is blind!
Beifong has a gentle and careful nature, totally understandable because he needs to be a bit more cautious since he can't see things. You can "show" him where something is in the house by tapping on it and giving him a treat so that he knows what it is and where it is, and will remember. When you go to pet him, sometimes it helps to first make a slight noise next to his ear, like rubbing your fingers together, so that he knows you are there and getting ready to touch him, rather than surprising him! He loves his people, and would do best with adults and young adults who can understand that he moves a little differently in the world, and who can give him time, space, and help to build his confidence and get used to everything.
Beifong likes other cats, too, but because he sometimes runs into them and they don't understand why, they don't always like him! He would be best with another calm and gentle cat who is easy-going and chill. He likes the other kittens in his foster home and is good with them, but is startled if one of them suddenly pounces on him. So he'd like his feline buddy to be a laid-back, non-pouncing friend!
Toys that make noise are best for him (again, see the cute videos!). A jingle ball or a scrunchy ball is good, though his hearing is better than ours, and he can probably hear a soft toy ball making a noise that we can't! The two of you will get to discover his favorite toys together.
At this point, dogs are likely a NO for little Beifong. That's too much for him to figure out, navigate, and be comfortable with.
Beifong is really an easy kitty! Once you show him where things are (or show him again if you move them!), he remembers where his food, water, litter box, toys, etc., are located, and will navigate around beautifully. He would do great in a home with kind people to love, a relaxed and unflappable feline friend, and space he can get used to and run around joyfully in!
