Sensitive, Affectionate Princess with Big Opinions
Meet Aveline!
Aveline is a gentle, deeply sensitive little cat who has been discovering just how wonderful it can be to feel safe, loved, and comfortable indoors. Watching her come out of her shell has been incredibly rewarding.
When she first arrived in foster care, she was extremely shut down and unsure of the world around her. With patience, consistency, time, and the chance to feel secure, she has blossomed into an affectionate, playful, deeply endearing companion.
Once Aveline feels secure, her sweet personality shines. She now seeks out attention from her people, purrs loudly and often, rolls around happily for pets — including belly rubs! — and has even started exploring lap time. She is affectionate, but she also has an independent streak: she enjoys attention on her terms, then is perfectly content to settle into a favorite cozy spot and do her own thing. Her fosters can attest that she is scoopable, snuggly, smoochable, and every bit the adorable little princess cat she was always meant to be.
Recently, she discovered toys for the very first time — and it turns out she loves to play in short bursts. Her favorite toys include crinkle balls and springs, which are perfectly sized for batting around and pouncing practice. She gets so excited about her toys that she sometimes announces her victories, and occasional toy-related emergencies, to the entire household with loud commentary. Her foster family suspects she wants everyone to know when she’s caught a toy — or when one has mysteriously disappeared under the furniture and requires immediate assistance in locating it. After a few minutes of playtime, she’s happy to retreat to her favorite cozy safe place: her heated bed.
Aveline is also wonderfully expressive. She has lots of opinions and isn’t shy about sharing them. Her foster family likes to joke that Aveline doesn’t just talk — she speaks in ALL CAPS. Whether she’s announcing that she’s entering the room, calling out to see where her people are, providing commentary on household events, or politely requesting attention, she believes communication is important. Along with her signature chatty meows, she’s developed an adorable repertoire of chirps, trills, and enthusiastic purrs.
Aveline is very people-focused, but not in a demanding way. She likes knowing where her humans are and often enjoys being nearby, whether she’s lounging within petting range, keeping watch from a window seat, or supervising from her heated bed. She may take a little time to decide when she’s ready to engage with new people, but once she feels safe, she is affectionate, curious, and sweet in her own gentle way.
As her confidence has grown, Aveline has shown curiosity about other cats, but she is still learning how to navigate feline friendships. She may be happiest as an only cat, where she can enjoy companionship from her people without feeling pressured by another pet. She might also be able to live with a very calm, respectful cat who gives her space, does not expect her to be an instant friend or playmate, and can tolerate a slow, careful introduction. Aveline is not looking for a rough-and-tumble playmate or a high-energy cat companion.
Although Aveline has made enormous progress, she is still a sensitive cat who needs consistency, calm, and thoughtful care to keep thriving. She is currently on supportive medication and a special wet food diet to help manage urinary inflammation and stress-related symptoms. Because of this, she’s looking for an adopter who is comfortable maintaining a care routine, monitoring appetite and litter box habits, and helping her continue the progress she’s made in foster care. She’ll do best with a patient and experienced adopter who understands that sensitive cats blossom when they’re given time, predictability, and gentle handling.
In return, Aveline offers something truly special: the joy of watching a once-frightened cat discover safety, affection, and happiness.
If you’re looking for a thoughtful, expressive companion and believe that the best relationships are built slowly and patiently, Aveline may be your perfect match.
