What do we love most about Backyard Blanche? Her funny little meow! And she must know how adorable it is, because she uses it to ask for pets; to thank you for petting her; to tell you, no, please don't stop petting me; and so on. You get the point. She is a confident girl who is not afraid to ask for what she wants - cheek scratches and chin scratches being two of her favorite things! She isn't asking for you to pick her up and put her in your lap, and if you do, she will walk around or immediately get down and rub against you and weave around your legs - she likes her lovin' at floor level!

Backyard Blanche is friendly and happy around people, and we think she would be fine with kids as long as they know she doesn't like to be picked up. She hasn't liked any of the other cats she has met, and tells them so by hissing at them. We suspect she wants to be the only kitty in her home!

Backyard Blanche will play if you are at the other end of the toy, moving it around and interacting with her; otherwise, she will always choose getting affection over playtime! It is clear that in her ideal home, her humans love having a chatty, affectionate cat, and love her to the moon and back.

Backyard Blanche is FeLV+ (Feline Leukemia Virus), which causes a weakened immune system and requires special care. APA! provides some medical assistance after adoption. Cats with FeLV typically have a shortened lifespan. She is not contagious to people or dogs, but should live only with other FeLV+ cats. APA!’s Barn Cat Program Provides You With Your Favorite Whiskered Workers

Some cats prefer mice-hunting to bird-watching, and some prefer laying in grass to sitting on laps. Here at APA!, we believe that barn cats still deserve a chance to live happy and healthy.
